Shining a Light on AMD and Low Vision: TLI Supports Access in Sight! Advocacy Week
At the Thought Leadership & Innovation Foundation (TLI), we are proud to join the American Macular Degeneration Foundation (AMDF) in raising awareness of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) through Access in Sight! AMD Advocacy and Action Week. Taking place during the last week of February, this important initiative is part of Low Vision Awareness Month, which focuses on educating the public about vision health and empowering individuals to take charge of their well-being.
AMD is more than a condition—it’s a public health issue affecting millions of Americans, particularly those over 75. In fact, one in three Americans in this age group is at risk of developing AMD, highlighting the critical need for early detection and effective management strategies.
Through its collaboration with AMDF, TLI is helping amplify efforts to address these challenges. “TLI remains committed to promoting early detection and effective management strategies to improve outcomes for those affected by this condition,” says Shawn Murphy, vice president, TLI. “We aim to expand access to critical resources, support cutting-edge research and empower individuals to take control of their vision health with confidence.”
Why Awareness Matters
Access in Sight! Advocacy Week highlights the urgent need for increased awareness, policy advocacy, and resource development to improve the quality of life for individuals living with AMD. This effort aligns closely with TLI’s mission to drive transformative change in healthcare and improve outcomes for patients worldwide.
As part of Low Vision Awareness Month, TLI encourages individuals, caregivers, and healthcare providers to explore the resources provided by AMDF through its Access in Sight initiative. These tools are designed to inform, educate and inspire action to prevent vision loss and support those already affected by AMD.
Looking Toward the Future
Our partnership with AMDF represents a shared commitment to addressing the challenges posed by AMD. By supporting both Access in Sight! AMD Advocacy and Action Week and broader awareness efforts, we hope to foster a future where the burden of vision loss is reduced, and individuals can enjoy healthier, more fulfilling lives.
